A resident’s insight on russian elections, and a brief presentation of the candidates running against Putin. By NICKUSH

« It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything». Joseph Stalin, Soviet dictator

2018 will mark the elections of the President of the Russian Federation (guess who is likely to win) and determine the future of the country for the following 6 years (the extension first introduced in 2012 elections). Bold to state: it's an event that will have much influence on all nations. Therefore, I call on all of us to follow the news on this procedure regarding the indifference of Russian people which we can see by the percentage of attendance in previous years (48% for State Duma in 2016 and 65% for President in 2012).

What is so special about these elections? Why should we follow them? Well, some people will definitely point out that there is no intrigue and they may be right. Still, the list of candidates this year gives Russian people – namely young people and the ones who have Internet access – some hope. To make it more interesting and real for you, imagine that you are in a role-play game and need to choose what character you will take to play.

– AFTERWORD –

People are quite submissive to propaganda these days, no, historically. My regards to French and American colleagues.
